Southpaw is a new literary journal of writing from the global south. It is dedicated to the idea of ‘south-south’ dialogue: to conversations between writers, artists and readers about life away from the metropolitan centres of power and high cultural influence. Southpaw will feature fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, essays, works for stage and radio, reviews and images.

The theme of Issue 1 is ‘displacement’. Launched in Australia in December 2011, it has contributions from and about many places in the global south: Australia, India, New Zealand, the Pacific, South Africa, South America and parts of Asia. We are currently discussing themes for Issue 2, and will soon call for submissions for publication late in 2012.

Southpaw is currently an annual publication.
